September 27th – Drums roaring, the band leader taking count, and instruments playing notes spontaneously, excitement filled the air. As POBJFK’s MaArching band began to play their signature song, “Do You Remember” by Phil Collins, the Homecoming parade started with a bang, showing off the Hawks’ spirit.Marching from Washington Park, through Mattlin, and finally arriving at our home field, the POBJFK Marching band captivated the attention of the community. Alongside the support of the district legislator, Arnold Drucker, the district administrators, including our very own Principal, Dr. Dvorak, as well as other community members, teachers, and others, walked alongside the performing students. Among the community and along the routes cleared by the police, students, parents, and children lined the sidewalks, watching closely as they fervently cheered, recorded, and immersed themselves further in the festivities, anticipating the game that was about to begin. By the time the band had arrived at the High School, the anticipation had reached a peak. As the marching band set foot onto their home field, they were met with cheers from the home audience of Plainview. Through the loudspeaker, the announcer shone the spotlight on the still-performing students, garnering even more cheers and putting the Marching Band’s riveting spirit on full display. As the band settled down, the homecoming game kicked off with intense energy. Matched against Hicksville, the Plainview Hawks took the stage with hopes high and a raised spirits.
